Top Chef alumna and co-host of ABC’s The Chew, Carla Hall will sign “Carla’s Comfort Foods: Favorite Dishes from Around the World,” (Atria Books, $29.99) Friday, April 28 at Chef Hugh Acheson’s Empire South Restaurant. Acheson will host the event with A Capella Books.
According to the publisher, Hall’s cookbook by was inspired by her search to find comfort food recipes from around the world. Combining old favorites with the rich spices of international cuisine, Hall envisions food as a universal connector of people from all backgrounds. Reflecting her own personality, she creates distinct new recipes from Southern Peach Cobbler to Greek Baklava, from German Double-Mustard Potato Salad to Moroccan Spice-Rubbed Beef Roast. The book includes a comprehensive spice and flavor guide and entertaining stories showing how seasoning can transform any simple recipe – including a favorite chicken soup having an Italian, Indian or Caribbean transformation by adding the appropriate herbs and spices.
Carla Hall’s talk and signing will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Empire South Restaurant, 999 Peachtree Street on Friday, April 28.
