We don't usually associate the word "yummy" with dieting. But Lisa Lillien, famed for her Hungry Girl cookbooks and columns, has concocted a weight loss plan that actually makes dieting taste delicious. It's all detailed in her new weight loss book, entitled "The Hungry Girl Diet: Big Portions. Big Results. Drop 10 Pounds in 4 Weeks" (click for details).

Some background in case you're not familiar with Lisa: She's the author of multiple cookbooks that offer recipes for all our favorite foods, from party appetizers to desserts, without all the guilt and calories. Our favorites include "Hungry Girl to the Max!: The Ultimate Guilt-Free Cookbook" (click for more information) and "Hungry Girl 1-2-3: The Easiest, Most Delicious, Guilt-Free Recipes on the Planet."

But this book marks the first time that Lisa's crafted her own weight loss plan. We asked Lisa to dish about it, and she explained that it's her response to the many requests that she received for weight loss help.

It was time for a Hungry Girl Diet -- a plan that offers a simple and satisfying path to weight loss -- using philosophies, strategies and ingredients that have been super-popular and successful in the Hungry Girl world! I couldn't be more excited about it.

Lisa worked with a dietitian and tested her weight loss plan. The result: "The average person lost 10 lbs on the plan. But some lost 25 or more!"

And for those who wonder about whether they should count calories or carbohydrates, Lisa makes it clear what works in her experience.

"Definitely calories. I tend to go light on starchy carbs personally -- but calories are very important. The idea is to take in fewer calories than you burn. Carbs play into that because ech gram of carbs has 4 calories - but The Hungry Girl Diet is more about calorie counting than it is carb counting. The diet gives you the MOST bang for your calorie buck!"

From her highest weight, Lisa herself has lost 30 pounds. We asked her to share her favorite Hungry Girl diet recipe from "The Hungry Girl Diet: Big Portions. Big Results. Drop 10 Pounds in 4 Weeks" (click for information on how to order).
