The Hunger Games star Alexander Ludwig has confirmed today that, despite the early interest he expressed, he will not star in Summit Entertainment at Lionsgate's upcoming adaptation of Veronica Roth's Divergent.
Ludwig had originally expressed an interest in the leading male role of Tobias "Four" Eaton last October by tweeting, "Had an amazing meeting with Doug Wick (produced gladiator) about playing Four in Divergent. Need to get this one. Much love to the fans!"
This afternoon, though, he tweeted an update to declare once and for all that he'll not be taking up that highly coveted cast spot.
"[I] will not be," he wrote in response to a question over whether he'd play "Four" in Divergent. "Too similar to the hunger games but i hope the fans are happy with how the rest of the casting goes!"
Last night, the studio confirmed the addition of Maggie Q, Zoe Kravitz and Ansel Elgort to the cast, which had previously consisted of Shailene Woodley as protagonist Beatrice "Tris" Prior and Kate Winslet in an unknown role.
Other actors who have been said to be in contention for the hunky role of "Four" include Alex Pettyfer, Jeremy Irvine, Lucas Till, Luke Bracey, Brenton Thwaites and Jack Reynor.
Thanks: Dotty P.
