“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” may still be many months away — after all, “Catching Fire” hasn’t even set flame in theaters yet — but already fans of Suzanne Collins’ bestselling franchise have reason to celebrate this week, as casting for “Mockingjay” is well underway, Variety reports this Friday, Aug. 23. The newest actress to join the star-studded cast? Natalie Dormer of “Game of Thrones” lore will be joining up to fight the Capitol as Cressida.
Although “Game of Thrones” (“GOT”) may be a fantasy series that’s found great fame as a TV series, Lionsgate is no doubt excited to confirm that the talented Natalie Dormer will be bringing her grace and wit from House Tyrell as Margaery to the cast of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” as Cressida.
Cressida is known in the third novel as a resident director from the Capitol who decided to join the Rebellion and fight against the tyranny that the Capitol is exerting over the other Districts. Natalie Dormer will be joining “The Hunger Games” and “Catching Fire” movie stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and more in the final installments.
In order to give justice to the final book in the trilogy, “Mockingjay”, director Francis Lawrence has decided to split the film into two parts, with the first installment appearing in theaters next Nov. 21, 2014.
Natalie Dormer of “GOT” will no doubt be a welcome addition to the cast as Cressida, making her mark just as the other great talents have brought “The Hunger Games” series to life on the big screen.
