A sequel to “The Hunger Games” quickly went into production after being a huge success with fans of the book series. The sequel, “Catching Fire,” though, will reportedly be missing three characters from the book, WetPaint reports on Friday, January 11.
The characters said to be missing are Bonnie, Twill, and Darius. For those who are not familiar with these characters, Bonnie and Twill are runaways from District 8. The two meet up with Katniss in District 12 and tell her about the rebellion and existence of District 13.
Darius is a District 12 peacekeeper. He intervenes in Gale’s whipping and is turned into an Avox.
About cutting these three from the movie, producer Nina Jacobson says, “I want every single thing in there. But you know what? If you have to give up something in order to give more time to Katniss and Gale or to Effie as she starts to feel a conscience, you make the sacrifices in order to serve the characters and themes that are more essential.”
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth. The film is scheduled to hit theaters November 22.
