Fan excitement for the upcoming “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” movie has only continued to increase this week, as Mockingjay.net revealed this Monday, Jan. 21, that actress Jennifer Lawrence recently opened up to MTV News about the changes that new director Francis Lawrence brought to the sequel film, as well as what fans can expect for characters Finnick Odair and Haymitch Abernathy. And although filming for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” movie reportedly finished in Hawaii in late 2012, Mockingjay.net also reported this week that some final “Catching Fire” movie scenes are expected to continue shooting this March.
Jennifer Lawrence is one talented actress that — much like her character Katniss Everdeen — isn’t afraid to speak her mind. The “Catching Fire” movie star let slip last week that filming for the sequel film isn't quite yet complete. Director Francis Lawrence also opened up on the transition between “The Hunger Games’” man-at-the-helm, Gary Ross, to Francis' own directing "style" in the films, as well as character casting roles.
“I liked what Gary [Ross] did a lot, but I have a different styles than he does,” said director Francis Lawrence in the interview. “Sam [Claflin] is very athletic, which is great for Finnick [Odair.] He’s very charismatic, and an emotional and loyal character … And he was really able to tap into that role, as well as being really charming and sexy and handsome as hell.”
Lawrence also revealed that “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” movie sequel would also focus more on Haymitch’s character, particularly him suffering post-traumatic stress disorder from his own Hunger Games, and his subsequent drinking in the film.
And while many fans were happy to hear that filming had ended for “Catching Fire,” that’s not necessarily the case. Recent sources reported that Jennifer Lawrence once again revealed there are some re-filming of certain scenes to be completed in March.
“We’re kind of on a little break. We’ll go back as the cast and crew to finish principal photography sometime in March, I think.”
