'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' movie: Jennifer Lawrence talks Katniss, cast cuts (Video)

Only days after brand new photos from “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” movie set were released this week, Perez Hilton reported this Saturday, Jan. 12, that actress Jennifer Lawrence recently opened up on what it’s like to play Katniss Everdeen in the films as a “hunter,” as well as her lead role among the talented cast. Uinterview also added this Friday that three key characters were revealed to be cut from “Catching Fire,” as director Francis Lawrence will be making some “creative changes” to the film.

From her breakout star role as Katniss Everdeen in the first “The Hunger Games” film, actress Jennifer Lawrence certainly knows how her female heroine role “works.” She recently revealed how she and the movie director saw Katniss in the adaptations: as a hunter.

“Whenever we would talk about Katniss, it was: ‘you’re from District 12 and a hunter.’ I didn’t feel like an action star. I didn’t feel like a hero. I felt like a hunter. It helped ground the reality of it: she’s good not because she’s trained killer but because she’s a 16-year-old girl who’s great with her senses. And in [“Catching Fire”], I’m a hunter.”

Other sources confirmed this week that “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” movie cast already had a few characters that needed to be cut from the film. These three characters were revealed to be the runaways of District 8, Twill and Bonnie, as well as a peacekeeper from District 12 who stands up for Gale: Darius. Although each had an important role to play in the novels, sequel director Francis Lawrence said that some “creative changes” were needed to be made, but that fans will still enjoy them. The film team, for instance, has devised an interesting new approach for Katniss to find out about the mysterious District 13.

“It was fun figuring out new ways around things and new ways of doing things [for the sequel]."

Although the rumors of a confirmed date for the upcoming “Catching Fire” trailer on Tumblr were debunked this week, it’s hopeful Lionsgate may give us a potential time frame at least for the full trailer within the next few weeks.
