The hype for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is gearing up. This week, Lionsgate Films offered a slow reveal of something they call ‘Capital Portraits.’ These high fashion, beautifully lit photographs reveal insight into the characters and upcoming film
Most of the portraits are of Hunger Games Victors. As the book, “Catching Fire,” centered on the Victory Tour and the Third Quarter Quell (the 75th Hunger Game), spotlighting the victors makes sense. Portraits of Katniss, Peeta, Beetie, Johanna, Heymitch and Finnick are featured. Also included are portraits of Hunger Game intimates – Cinna, Effie, and Caesar. The only non-Game related portrait belongs to Gale. The final portrait revealed was that of President Snow.
The portraits are posed formally, almost like old-school oil paintings. The details are intricate – most of the characters hold a white rose. Caesar, Effie and Cinna, the three who work for the games, do not look at the camera. Gale is the only one pictured in casual wear, the rest are all formally attired.
The movie “Catching Fire” is scheduled for launch on November 22, 2013. All of the photos are available for viewing in the slideshow.
