Several hundred young women tried out for a spot on the Philadelphia Eagles Cheer Leading Squad. Open call auditions were held today, March 21 2014 at the Nova Care complex in South Philadelphia. The squad held several workshops prior to today, to give prospects advance training and tips on how to make it onto the team.

Young ladies that want to be cheerleaders must be 18 and out of high school. They must be able to make allover the grueling practice sessions. This year, hopefuls came from all over the region, from as far away as North Jersey to as close as South Philadelphia.

This year, contestants who are chosen will cheer in a packed stadium, where all of the attention can be focused on the team and not on the past of Michael Vick. The fact that he is off the roster was reason enough for some of the hopefuls to try out. One young lady who did not give her name said "I would not try out if he were still on the team".

Auditions started in the morning and went until the late afternoon. Even current squad members have to compete to keep their spot on the roster.
