Humphries and Moyse win for second time in 2013

According to the Associated Press, Kaillie Humphries of Calgary and Heather Moyse of Summerside, Prince Edward Island won a women's World Cup bobsled competition from Lake Placid, New York.

Humphries and Moyse posted a time of 1:53.66 to beat Americans Elana Meyers and Lauryn Williams by 0.12 seconds. Americans Jamie Greubel and Katie Eberling finished in third place with a time of 1:54.00. The win was significant because it comes less than two months from the start of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

It is interesting that Williams competed with Meyers on Saturday, and not Meyers' regular brakewoman, Aja Evans. Another American bobsledder who was absent from competing in Lake Placid was track and field star Lolo Jones. Ironically Evans and Jones were present during an incident at a Lake Placid night club this past summer, but it seems unlikely the two situations are related.

What we do know is that Humphries and Moyse went about their business Saturday and won the gold medal. Humphries and Moyse previously won a World Cup in Calgary last month.
