According to the Canadian Olympic Committee in a press release on Sunday, Kaillie Humphries of Calgary, Alberta and Heather Moyse of Summerside, Prince Edward Island will carry the flag for Canada in the closing ceremonies of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Humphries and Moyse won their second consecutive gold medal in the women's bobsled event at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and duplicated their success from the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. By choosing Humphries and Moyse, the Canadian Olympic Committee will have a representative from both western Canada and eastern Canada.

Canadian Olympic gold medalist and women's hockey player Hayley Wickenheiser of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan carried the Canadian flag in the opening ceremonies of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

From the press release, Humphries and Moyse said the following.

“This has been such a great Games for Canada and leading the team into the Closing Ceremony is the cherry on top of a fantastic couple of weeks. I am so honoured,ˮ said Humphries.

“This is such an amazing privilege. I will carry the flag with the upmost pride and patriotism, on behalf of all Canadians,ˮ added Moyse.
