A humpback whale bumped a canoe in the waters off Hawaii, in what is seen as a possible mating ritual by the whale. An Arizona couple vacationing in Hawaii had the surprise and possibly scare of their life when the huge humpback whale gave them a nudge in the waters off Maui, according to UPI.com on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013.
The humpback whale making its presence known to the couple was caught on video, a video that went viral today. The boyfriend was filming his girlfriend during their canoe trip when the whale came to the surface.

The duo in the canoe wasn’t knocked over and neither of the two were hurt. The whale did scare the girl, seen in the video watching the whale who breached the water just a few feet away from her.
This huge sea creature might have mistaken the canoe for a possible mate and although it sounds like a cute story, there’s probably nothing cute about seeing the giant whale that up close. Then to add to the excitement, the whale bumps the watercraft you're in when you have just a small canoe between you and the sea creature!
