By now, just about everyone has seen the Geico commercial and they know the famous camel, but not everyone likes it. Fox News reported on Oct. 4, 2013, that the Geico Hump Day commercial is actually becoming a disruption in some Connecticut school classrooms, and thus is the reason that the commercial began trending on Saturday night.
There have been some unconfirmed reports that a Connecticut school district actually banned the "Hump Day" commercial phrase, but that turns out to not be true. In reality, teachers are becoming irritated by the phrase being repeated and some students have been sent to the principal's office.
"Sometimes it's the counting down to when it is," Brooke Lewis, a student at the school told WFSB.com. One parent told the station, "Just keep it to Wednesdays and we'll be all right."
It appears as if students aren't just saying it on Wednesday, or hump day, but are saying it all the time on different days and saying it in the "weird voice" of the Hump Day commercial camel.
"Everybody's walking around in the hallways and saying its hump day in that weird voice," said Lewis.
Some teachers have said that it isn't a district issue or even a school-wide issue. Teachers just want it stopped and feel it needs to be addressed with a few students understanding that it isn't alright to continue.
Parents agree with teachers that it just needs to stop.
"OK, that's getting out of hand," said Mick Ruggiero, of Vernon. "Just keep it to Wednesdays and we'll be all right."
