The Hump day commercial that everyone knows is causing some problems for students in Connecticut. While Geico has seemingly changed Hump day forever with their hilarious (yet mildly annoying) new ad, some teachers are fed up with their students quoting the ad and acting like the talking animal. On Oct. 6, UPI reported that one middle school in Connecticut is prohibiting students from talking about the commercial in school.
"Everybody's walking around in the hallways and saying its hump day in that weird voice," said Vernon Center student Brooke Lewis (via UPI). The quoting has been called "disruptive" and any student who references the commercial in any way could be reprimanded.
The Hump day commercial was the most-shared ad of the summer with millions of people getting an absolute kick of a personified camel who walks through an office and asks people what day it is. Since a camel has "humps," Hump day is almost like a holiday for the animal each and every week... hence his excitement ("what! what!") after someone finally tells him it's Hump day.
It might just be a harmless funny ad to you and yours but with kids harping on things for days, you may be able to understand why this school is prohibiting kids from saying anything about it.
The Hump day commercial has over 15 million views on YouTube. If you must, check it out (again) above. Do you think the school is overreacting?
