The Hummer H3T is the Four Wheeler 2009
Pickup Truck of the Year.
The Hummer H3T is the best new pickup truck for off-road enthusiasts, Four Wheeler magazine said.
"Hummer has done its research to provide the four-wheeling enthusiast with a vehicle that has been designed around their needs from the beginning, rather than offering an off-road version of an existing product and it shows in the final product," the magazine wrote.
The H3T, a new five-passenger crew cab pickup based on the existing H3 midsize SUV, was a much better performer off-road than the other eligible new pickups: the Dodge Ram and Ford F-150 full-size pickups, and the Nissan Frontier-based Suzuki Equator midsize pickup, the magazine said.
The magazine's editors also appreciated the Hummer's on-road manners, its long bed, and its unmistakable appearance.
The H3T starts at $30,750, with a five-cylinder engine and lots of standard equipment. The V8-powered Alpha version -- Four Wheeler's favorite -- starts at $36,015.
5-cylinder H3Ts are rated at 16 miles per gallon in mixed driving; opting for the V8 drops that to 14 mpg.
