The Humane Society has just sent out information to it's supporters on H.R. 5566 Prevention of Interstate Commerce in Animal Crush Videos Act of 20100. This is a bill that has been put in motion to try to ban "crush videos".  This bill is currently moving through the legislative process, but still needs help.  The Humane Society urges the public to contact their legislator and ask them to vote "YES" to H.R. 5566.

Taken all over the world, even in Salt Lake City, Crush videos are videos generally taken for erotica.  A crush video shows animals getting stabbed, kicked and beaten to death, generally by a woman wearing stiletto heals.  These videos are supposed to invoke a feeling of sexual excitement.

However, the use of animals in sexual acts is barbaric and should be banned.  Unfortunately, not enough people have voiced their rage and concern at using animals for sexual gratification and crush videos remain legal.

I urge you to contact your U.S. Representative to speak your mind about these appalling videos and ask them to please vote in favor of H.R. 5566.

For information from the Humane Society on H.R. 5566 please click here.

You can find your U.S. Representative by clicking here.

In Salt Lake City our U.S. Representative is Jim Matheson and can be contacted at (202) 225-3011.

The Humane Society has also written a basic script to use when contacting your U.S. Representative which is listed below.

"Hello, my name is [your name] and I'm calling from [your town]. As a constituent, I'm calling to ask Representative [representative's name] to vote YES on H.R. 5566 to crack down on animal crush videos. I appreciate your help getting this bill enacted quickly. Thank you."
