There is a new reward being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the persons responsible for killing around 150 brown pelicans in North Topsail Beach.
The Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust have added a $2,500 reward to the money already being offered to find those responsible for what the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has repeatedly called deliberate killings.
"We applaud the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other investigating agencies for their efforts to find those who may be responsible," said Kimberley Alboum, North Carolina state director for The Humane Society of the United States in a press release.
The Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust already have an outstanding reward offer for information about similar pelican killings that took place on Bald Head Island, Oak Island, Holden Beach and Caswell Beach in December 2009 and January 2010.

Most likely the killing type nets again! Blame the NCMFC they know about how nets have killed Pelicans for years!!! All the commercial netters are covering this up.
Rod and Reel fishermen do not stand a chance with the nets killing the bycatch!!!! Recreational fishermen and their families and children have always paid the price for these crooks. The netters think with their pocketbook as do the members of the NCMFC. I watched the netters kill and destroy the fisheries in Southern Va, Back Bay, in Currituck Sound, Albemarle Sound, and now Pamlico Sound and its many rivers. These nets keep killing everywhere they go! should be stopped once and for all. Thanks
