Humane Society of Broward County to host 'Walk for the Animals' fundraiser

Thousands of animal lovers are expected to take part in Broward County's 24th annual Walk for the Animals fundraiser presented by VCA Animal Hospitals and sponsored in part by PETCO.

The event will take place on Saturday March 1, at Huizenga Plaza in downtown Fort Lauderdale- rain or shine. The walk, which is 1.25 miles long, begins at 10AM with registration opening at 8AM.

Everyone is invited to participate with or without their beloved pooch. It is free to the public with no required registration fee, however donations are encouraged. If you're interested, have family, friends, neighbors or co-workers sponsor you and make donations to the Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC).

The HSBC does not receive any funding from the government so it depends solely on private donations, pet adoptions, fundraising efforts and special events like this to care for thousands of animals.

According to the HSBC, this event raised a whopping $521,000 in 2013. The goal is to raise even more this year so let's make it happen. Put on your walkin' shoes and get movin'!
