You’ve got more pictures of your furry children than of the human ones. You donate your money, time, home, or services to animals in need. Maybe you even stand on street corners dissuading potential buyers from purchasing puppies… but you still wish you could do more.
While our 4 legged kids communicate with us quite well, (pathetic stares, well timed woofs, chewed up shoes), animals don’t actually have a voice when it comes to legislation. Why not be their voice? The Humane Society of the United States and the ASPCA invite you to join them for Humane Lobby Day in Carson City Nevada. On March 8th, join other animal lovers and activists as they speak up for the well being of our furry friends. The Humane Society will provide an overview of the animal issues at hand and pending legislation as well as some tips for lobbying. You will then have the opportunity to meet with elected officials to voice your concerns and your opinions. Save the pictures of Fluffy wearing a suit for your fellow lobbyists, politicians are very busy.
The event will take place from 9 AM to 3:30 PM at the Nevada Legislative Building, 401 South Carson Street, Room 1214 Carson City, NV 89701. There will be a networking opportunity after lunch allowing animal advocates to brain storm with animal protection groups and learn about new protection bills being introduced. This is a wonderful opportunity to influence policy at the highest level.
If we take a more active role in the laws governing our animals, we may one day live in a community where Las Vegas animal rescuers can spend their weekends hiking at Mt. Charleston or exploring the Strip, instead of at pet stores trying to find homes for animals in need. If you are interested in lending your voice, please RSVP today. The animals thank you!
