As Florida residents continue to battle the economic situation, any news of job growth is an inspiration. Health insurance company, Humana, plans to add 140 jobs to its local Humana Cares office, according to a St. Petersburg Times report, March 31, 2010. The Louisville, Ky.-based insurer opened its office in St. Petersburg's Carillon business park about a year ago, and the announced jobs would bring the count to about 500, and more than 2,000 in the greater Tampa Bay area.

"We're growing faster than originally thought," Humana spokesman Mitch Lubitz told the St. Petersburg Times. He credited the growth to an expanded mission for the operation. According to the report, new hires would be "health care managers, community health educators, field care managers and health coaches."
