Huma Abedin is at a crossroads. She can either have a major role in Hillary's campaign and possible presidency or she keep keep her family together. Either way, she is assured of being a part of the Hillary 2016 juggernaut. One has to assume that Hillary would love nothing more than to have Huma as her right hand woman, but the fear that the shadow of Anthony Weiner could cast a pall on her campaign has made the choice a necessary one.
Back in July, when Weinergate broke open for the second time and it was learned that he was still texting pictures of himself to women on the Internet, both Hillary and Bill were upset by the comparisons to themselves being drawn. Donors are another reason that Hillary may be forced to give Huma a strictly behind the scenes job. They have expressed a fear that the Weiner situation could stick to Hillary and hurt her chances.
Huma has a child to worry about and it is said she is not anxious to drop Weiner. On the other hand, if she wants the security that a high profile gives her and the monetary rewards that accompany it, she will have to cut him loose. She has been betrayed by him twice and no one would blame her.
A Clinton rep gave the standard denial but other members of the campaign have been said to be very supprtive of Abedin. But for now it looks like she is stuck between a rock and a hard on.
