Has Hulk Hogan traded the wrestling ring for the courtroom? It would seem that way, as Hulk Hogan recently refiled a 100 million dollar lawsuit against the celebrity gossip website Gawker. The mighty Hulkster, a former multi time world wrestling heavyweight champion, originally filed the lawsuit back in October. Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, was prompted to file the suit after the popular Hollywood gossip site featured a one minute clip of Hulk Hogan's sex tape. Hogan refiled the suit because he had two lawsuits relating to the sex tape. One against Gawker and one against Heather Clem, the woman in the sex tape. The refiling now brings both lawsuits under one roof.
Bollea also had a lawsuit filed against his ex best friend Bubba the Love Sponge, who Bollea suspected leaked the footage to the media. He later rescinded the lawsuit after a settlement was reached, and Bubba issued a public apology on his national radio show.
The sex tape in question was taped back in 2007, and was allegedly secretly recorded by security cameras in Bubba the Love Sponge's house. It came out that Bubba allowed his wife, Heather Clem, to engage in sexual relations with Hulk Hogan while Bubba was in the same house. Hogan later claimed that the encounter came at a very rough time in his life, as he was going through a messy divorce, financial strain, and his son Nick was in jail.
However, since 2007, Hulk Hogan has made great strides in putting his life back together. The massive sports entertainment figure is still a major factor on the pro wrestling circuit. Hogan currently works for Total Nonstop Action wrestling. And although he is no longer able to wrestle actively due to eight back surgeries, he still manages to get his hands dirty in the top storylines. In addition, Hogan has made headlines recently in his hometown area of Tampa, Florida. Terry Bollea recently opened a new bar and restaurant in Tampa Bay called Hogan's Beach. Hogan describes the restaurant as being like Hooters, times ten. The restaurant opened on New Year's Eve and has been given positive reviews thus far.
Although it seems like the bleached blond warrior from Venice Beach, California has been spending a lot of time in the courtroom as of late, it's all in the name of clearing his name and reclaiming his fame. And isn't that what being a celebrity is all about?
