Just about everyone loves a game of checkers. Creating and playing Hugs and Kisses Valentine's day themed checkers can be fun for the whole family.
Age Level: Elementary school
Time to complete: 15 minutes
Materials needed:
checkers game board
24 plastic bottle caps (these can be from bottled water, milk containers and orange juice containers)
12 red printed X's (these can be drawn also)
12 pink printed O's (these can be drawn also)
scissors
glue
Instructions:
- Find a ready made checkers game board to use.
- Draw or print out a sheet of 12 red X's.
- Draw or print out a sheet of 12 red O's.
- Cut out all X's and O's.
- Glue one X or O to each of the 24 plastic bottle caps.
- Play Hugs and Kisses checkers.
Idea for the classroom: Hugs and Kisses Checkers can be used in the classroom to teach the students valuable skills such as;

- analyzing
- logical thinking
- critical thinking
- directionals
- cause and effect
- reasoning
Children will enjoy learning these skills that are not only important to the game of checkers, but in everyday life as well.
