'Hugo' star signed for 'Ender's Game'

Fans of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game can take note that another step in bringing the book to the big screen has been taken -- Hugo actor Asa Butterfield has been signed to take on the plum role of Ender Wiggin.

Ender's Game tells the story of humankind trying to survive a war that's been waging for a hundred years. Young Ender is a prodigy at the art of war and is sent to a military academy in space, where children fight endless war games in hopes to find the one who can lead humans to victory against the alien race that wants to enslave them.

Part psychological thriller, part post apocalyptic SF, Ender's Game has long been desired as movie material. It's also the first book in a series and could be the lead in to a series of movies should this first be successful.
