Hugh Laurie is House but after that role he plans to retire from TV.
So it's goodbye to the great actor when this small screen effort is over. And it's also goodbye to an American accent done by a Brit to perfection.
Hugh Laurie plans to swtich hats, from thespian to writer and producer once Gregory House leaves House. The grumpy yet genius doctor has now been on the tube for his show's eighth season. And, for playing this part, Laurie is reported to make a quarter of a million dollars per episode.
Laurie told the UK publication, The Daily Record:
"I think I have been rather spoiled here [in America]. I can't imagine there will be another one quite like this.
Hugh added:
"... I think I am extremely lucky to have had the one shot that I have had at it and I wouldn't go looking for lightning to strike twice."
And so, as Gregory House gets ready to wind things down as the off-the-hook physician everyone loves to hate, the British thespian will end his stint on TV forever once this doc quits too. Both will be missed as this talent disappears behind the scenes, but Hugh Laurie will be remembered and watched in reruns no doubt for a long, long time.
