Hugh Jackman can add pirate to his resume.

It has been confirmed by Warner Bros., and reported by The Hollywood Reporter and Variety that Jackman has signed on to play Blackbeard in the live-action adaptation of Peter Pan.

The announcement comes a day after it was reported that the studio has offered Garrett Hedlund the role of Hook in Pan.

President of creative development and worldwide production Greg Silverman said in a statement released Friday, "Hugh Jackman always delivers indelible performances that resonate with audiences. We know he will create a Blackbeard who will be a powerful presence in this original Peter Pan adventure."

Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Anna Karenina) is set to film the beloved classic story written by author J.M Barrie.

Jackman can next be seen in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past reprising his role of Wolverine, out this May.

Pan is being penned by Jason Fuchs with Greg Berlanti producing, and Sarah Schechter overseeing for the studio.

Warner Bros. dated Pan's theatrical release for July 17, 2015.
