Trailing 7-2 following a three point jumper from the corner by Splendora's Casey Barron with 4:49 left in the first quarter, Huffman head coach Scott Barrett's team turned up the pressure on defense and exploded on defense.

Over the next 12:49 leading up to halftime, the Falcons scorched the Wildcats with a 31- 6 run opening a 20 point cushion.

Huffman took an 8-7 lead on a Zach Dumas baseline layup with 3:10 to play and never looked back. Dumas led all scorers with 21 points.

The Falcons held Splendora (16-8, 3-1) to three points in the second quarter and tightened up the defense even more in the third quarter limiting the Wildcats to two points while Dumas and Gray continued to pace the offense. Gray finished with 11 points.

On the glass, Huffman held a 34-12 edge by the final buzzer.

The win kept Huffman a game behind district leading Cleveland. The two teams meet on Tuesday January 21 in Cleveland.

We dug ourselves a hole early," said Barrett. In the end though, we pulled it together and shut down a good Splendora team for an important win."
