Huawei introduces the Ascend D2, a powerful Android 4.1 smartphone

At this year's International Consumer Electronics Show, Huawei has launched its latest flagship handheld, the Ascend D2.

"The HUAWEI Ascend D2 has the style, power and all-round performance capabilities you would expect from a HUAWEI Ascend smartphone, but with a revolutionary FHD screen, unsurpassed camera quality and power saving technology to maximize your enjoyment," Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu said in a press release. "We are excited to introduce the HUAWEI Ascend D2, the latest addition to our series of Ascend range of smartphones, as we continue to put great technology into the hands of more people around the world."

The Ascend D2 supports a 1920 by 1080 resolution on a 5-inch screen. Like the recently announced Xperia Z, the quad-core device is equipped with a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera. All of this is powered by a 3000mAh battery.

The handset will launch in China in this month. The rest of the world will have to wait and see.
