Recently, as part of Social Media Week Houston, Cactus Music asked local music fans to participate in the creation of the first Houston community created playlist by submitting one of their favorite songs which was either a song inspired by Houston or a song by a Houston band.
Houston listens
Houston music fans were invited to Cactus Music to listen to the completed playlist and a live in store performance by the band which ranked number one on the list. The Hates, a veteran local punk band, rocked the listening party with several of their hard-driving tunes and closed the set appropriately with their scorching version of “Houston,” the number one song from the community created playlist.
Every song on the playlist might not appeal to your taste, but you have to agree, the tunes are a diverse collection of Houston based music which crosses many genres.
The H-List
The playlist represents a cross section of the community - something the commercial radio stations fail miserably to accomplish on a regular basis. This is why commercial radio has it all wrong and why their programming is so unsatisfying and uninspiring. However, now you know, you can make your own music and you can make it better.
