HTC ThunderBolt Release Date Now March 4th?

Here we go again, San Francisco.

The last we heard from the HTC ThunderBolt was last week when it became apparent that the rumored February 24th launch date might not happen with a launch coming on February 28th instead. Well, it’s now February 24th and there is now sign of the ThunderBolt and that February 28th release date is now looking pretty bleak too.

I’ve been seeing some whispers about a March release date and sure enough, we now have a report that's saying that the HTC ThunderBolt is not going to be released until next month.

Specifically, on either March 3rd or 4th.

Apparently, there was an exclusive event for VIP last night (you can read the tale and see pics here) and Verizon apparently unveiled those launch details. The source believes that March 4th is probably the more likely of the two. Here’s the quote:

the launch date its not tomorrow or the 28th its the first week of march they told me the 3rd or 4th ... but most likely the 4th

Probably not what many of you wanted to hear, especially those that have already pre-ordered, but this early March thing is sounding pretty concrete.

I just wish Verizon would come out and say it.

Anyway, the event also gave us another tidbit of information. Unlimited 4G LTE will cost $30/mo with the ThunderBolt.

That’s pretty nice.

So, what do you think of this release date and data pricing, people?

Or have you already returned your pre-order?

    This really REALY sucks...
I don't think that Verizon understands just how much they are starting to HACK off the people interested in this device and HTC might want to thumb them down or have them kept quiet until they DO set a concrete date...(HTC) your name is on this as well and people are getting upset even before the device has hit the streets....ummm...not good. (I will now just get the Bionic)

Is the projected release date of the 4g thunderbolt
    in MARCH 2011, 2012 OR 2013!

I'LL JUST KEEP USING MY CB! BREAKA, BREAKA 19 :-)

im going to have to go wit the last post! i was looking to get a knew phone because my droid is taking a sh#* on me, and the laddy at verizon told me to hold off because this damn phone will be out in a cpl weeks! well its been two months! Would have liked to try our HTC but i think ill be sticking with motorola! Thank HTC you just lost out on another costomer!

By the time it hits the street it will be old news and technology. To bad Atrix is AT&T.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I'd rather (i.e. putting-up with delay) experince: reliable 4G dataflow, flawless Skype s/w, and flawless DLNA. If those dont work then I'll 'really' have something to be disapointed-about. ...'Come-on Verizon, Get-Er-Done!! (regards: a loyal customer)

I am soo pissed. I want verizon to take money off for the people that already pre ordered this phone. Its like false advertising. Every week we think its coming out and they pull the plug. Its not right, and it makes me want to jump to another carrier.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

im just glad im done with dumb at&t and over rated iphone

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

If the iphone has problems on AT&T, what makes you think that the Atrix will succeed on the same network? Verizon said during CES that they didn't believe that any 4G devices would be ready until at least March, most of this anticipation has been fueled by Best Buy releasing ads for the thunderbolt for earlier dates by "accident". Verizon has never come out and given a specific date that I am aware of, who cares if you have to wait longer, AT&T rushes out their devices and deal with 6 months of issues, I would rather Verizon make sure they iron out the problems BEFORE the release, it's delayed so what, deal with it. It will still be amazing when it comes out.......

unbelievable! I preordered on Super Bowl Sunday, and now a month later it comes out. With other superphones out, as cool as the ThunderBolt is, it will seem a month outdated! :(

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

thunderbolt cannot be out dated thats why the wait is worth it, if the evo still aint out dated theres no way the thunderbolt wil for a while.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Patiently waiting for this phone because its AWESOME

  • eric edge los angeles 1 year ago

I paid full price for my droid x had it less than 6 months when I heard about the htc thunderbolt I sold it for $200. I then went to best buy to pay $50 to pre order my phone and was told that it was being released feb 14th that never happened. I was then told by best buy it would be released feb 24th for certain that never happened because of best buy giving false info I am now without a phone and have been since feb 12 this really sucks. Im not mad at verizon because they never gave an official release date this is all best buys fault

  • Leon 1 year ago

@Eric - I did the exact same thing with my DROIDX...I paid almost $700.00 for the phone in July. I sold it on EBAY for $225 and switch back to the first DROID. I did that to get the iphone 4 but decided I will just wait on the iphone 5 coming out in June or July. Watching the NBA allstar game is when I first saw the HTC TB and immediately fell in love at first sight. Now I am waiting and thinking I might just get the iphone 5 in June as this is BS!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Again, funny thing is we never hear why? Concerns me that waiting for this & 4G may have bigger issues than its worth. You show us a product at CES the first week in Janaury and now we are still waiting nearly 2 months? Crap!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Is the 4G LTE price per month included for the $30 unlimited data? Are they the same thing? Because I'm not paying an extra $60 a month for a flipping phone! I can handle $30.

Verizon your loosing customers by the second!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Been waiting, best buy or verizon keep on telling me they don't know, this is becoming a real turn off, this is really bad marketing

Best buy has huge advertising out front about the phone, but have no idea about the phone. might as well wait a month and get the next hot phone, the thunderbolt is a little thick

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Be mad at Verizon because BBY would not be advertising and giving release dates without Verizon leading them down the path. It does bring people in to BBY who can then pick the 4G HTC Atrix or EVO, so Verizon has lost customers who don't want to wait. It also hurts V because while I can't change providers, I don't like them, love/hate relationship. I have put off business travel for over 2 wks anticipating if I go the next day my phone will arrive. My concern is dealing with the software issues with the phone and network on V's 1st 4G phone that is being delayed while they try to fix the problems. Might be best to wait for the dual processor Motorola in June.

IPhone release Thursday 2/10, Zoom Release Thursday 2/24. Verizon won't release on a Monday so the likely date is Thursday 3/10 with 2 weeks between each release. 30 days after the dissapointed IPhone buyers so the first buyers can't return them to Verizon OR Best Buy. And hopefully they will have the network problems fixed.

The Artrix isn't competition, only has a 5mp camera and only 4 inch screen, which are both deal breakers if you want the Thunderbolt for the right reasons. This is still the phone to beat even if they are having problems with the Skype merger. Lucky for me, I get my fed return about 3/4 cause I want this phone the day it drops

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

this is seriously ***sing me off! Pick a date...stick to it...if it's not available by the 4th...they will lose my business! Period!

    EVO 4G Here I come!

  • rest4455 1 year ago

EVO 4g daily battery life is average at best. Also, be sure you get good Sprint data coverage or your EVO will be useless. I had to return mine due to poor coverage.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Yeah give up the best service under the sun for sprint...they suck ass

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

$30 a month for 4G LTE? Is this on top of the 30$ existing plan? If not, that solid. If so, I'm switching carriers.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I have been tracking the release date of the thunderbolt for a while now and I'm almost over it. Verizon is just trying to make as much money as they can off of the new entrance of the i-phone. I'm guessing that as long as the sales of the i-phone are still high the release date will keep being pushed back. As far as the rumors go, they are just rumors probably put out by verizon in order to keep those who want the thunderbolt still interested. All I'm saying is the thunderbolt better be worth it. when it is released there should be no technical problems with he device what so ever!!! F***in verizon!!

  • Verizon dropped the ball again 1 year ago

I would not hold your breath for the March 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th ect… release date. I have been dead on thus far with my info and predictions. Verizon just keeps dropping the ball. The Thunderbolt is going to be a big disappointment. This phone will be marked down to $150.00 before the summer even starts and everyone will have forgotten all about the Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt is alot of rumbling and no big thunder bang or lightning to follow. What a joke so far. I am going to pass on the Thunderbolt. Also, no Skype upon release (per rumors)and no comfirmed release date. What a disappointment for a phone that had so much hype. It is not that hard if they just think of customer relations and keep people imformed. The iphone 4 (or was that the iphone 3 ha ha) was a bust and the Thunderbolt is going to be a bigger bust. I would like to see the quarterly earnings for Verizon after not delivering once again.

Verizon Not loosing customers. Going ahead and complain about the little wait, but your going no where. You know verizon wireless hands down with this phone will rule the air. The verizon stores that I went to said they could not give out and exact date, to bad that best buy sucked you in.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

This is just getting foolish, and now more money too. I already have the unlimited package plus another 20 bucks for hot spot now 30 more. I'm just getting exhausted with this foolish phone..just friggin announce a date..I've had it with this garbage

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Woo Hoo! I pre-ordered my phone last week but I wasn't going to pick it up until March 3rd. The sales person wasn't if they would hold a week, now it doesn't matter!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Who gives a crap..I assume u all have a phone that works right now. Wouldn't you rather they take the right amount of time to make sure this phone is perfect. Bunch of babies. Waaaaa the thunderbolt didn't come out on time..way more important things in life to worry about..get over it

  • Thors20 1 year ago

I just went to best buy and they said they had one in stock and so i was able to get mine. I am sooo happy because i went to the verizon store and they said it wasnt going to be out until march. so it does help to just check at the stores.

WE ARE GETTING CLOSE FINALLY, I WAS @ A VERIZON STORE TODAY IN UPSTATE NY AND THEY HAVE RECEIVED A DEMO MODEL OF THE THUNDERBOLT. I PHYSICALLY HAD MY HAD ON IT. I WOULD EXPECT THAT THE PHONE WILL BE FINALLY RELEASED IN THE NEXT WEEK. I ADMIT, NO DATE WAS GIVEN BUT WITH THE SHELF MODEL ROLLING IN I'M SURE IT'S CLOSE
