For the third year the Houston Tennis Association (HTA) partnered with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to help the country’s deployed military service members in the Adopt-a-Unit program.

HTA boxed 55 care packages to send to three units serving in Afghanistan this year. Care packages contained beef jerky, sunflower seeds, granola bars, nuts, candy, tuna, gum and powdered drink mixes.

The USTA will send portable tennis equipment to the troops on behalf of HTA.

HTA Board Members Jodi and Jean Jablonski organized the project for the HTA, and volunteers packed the care packages at the HTA offices Nov. 2.
