Concerts by the Howlin' Brothers and Vaz highlight the Thursday night concert schedule in Central Iowa. Here are the details.
The Howlin' Brothers will play DG's Tap House in Ames at 9 p.m. on November 7. The 3-piece folk/blues/bluegrass string band from Nashville released The Sun Studio Session EP on October 15, and they have a new full-length album due out on February 4 of 2014. Tickets to see them Thursday night are $10, and they can be purchased online through MidwesTix. This is a 21-and-over show.
Meanwhile in Des Moines, the Brooklyn noise pop band Vaz will headline at Vaudeville Mews at 9 p.m. Opening for the band spun-off from 90's rockers Hammerhead will be Des Moines' Skin of Earth, Animal Mothers, and Kamrar. The show was originally scheduled to be an all ages show at The Underground Rock Shop, but was moved to the Mews late Sunday. The Thursday night show is now 21-and-over. There will be a $7 cover at the door.
