Fort Myers, FL - HOWL Gallery, an established tattoo studio and art gallery in downtown Fort Myers will be relocating to Cleveland Ave (US 41) beginning May 1st, 2013. The new space is over 1,000 square feet larger than the studio’s current downtown Fort Myers location, which they have occupied for the last 4 years. The new facility will feature a large parking lot, more gallery and retail space, and larger work stations for employees.
HOWL Gallery/Tattoo co-owners Andy Howl and Alainna Zwiernik are excited to be moving to the larger location. The couple sees their time spent in downtown Fort Myers as an important building block for them in the Fort Myers community. Alainna said regarding the move from downtown, 'We wouldn't be in the positive position we are now without the investment of time, money, and energy we spent downtown and the relationships we built there.' Andy adds, 'We’ll miss our River District setting, but look forward to helping build new business on Cleveland Ave, as well as offering the convenience of a parking lot and the larger facilities we need to grow.'
The new 3,000 sq ft retail space is located directly across from the Edison Mall in Miracle Plaza. The plaza is home to several long time Fort Myers businesses including Masons Bakery and anchored by David’s Bridal. HOWL will also be located across from Offerman Auto and next to Brent's Music, the area’s oldest locally owned musical instrument dealer and stage rental company. HOWL and Brent's are currently in talks to host a joint art and music event, carrying on HOWL Gallery's tradition of growing arts, culture, and business in downtown Fort Myers.
HOWL Gallery has been seen as instrumental in the re-marketing of downtown Fort Myers since before opening in March of 2009. Fort Myers Music Walk was founded by Andy Howl in September of 2011, and he helped co-found the downtown Art Walk event in 2008; even before the doors opened for business at HOWL Gallery. Howl donated much of his time to creating the logos, websites, and print material for the downtown events and has since been managing web and print marketing for most of the downtown Fort Myers city sponsored events.
Andy will be stepping down as a board member of the River District Alliance, as well as Art Walk and Music Walk event chair positions. He plans to continue supporting downtown in marketing efforts with the RDA, and looks forward to creating new collective opportunities and events for the Miracle Plaza and surrounding Cleveland Avenue businesses.
In order to accommodate the move, HOWL Gallery has cancelled their August group art show and moved the three shows scheduled for May, June, and July, back one month each to allow time for moving and settling in May. No other upcoming art shows will be affected. April 5th will be the gallery’s final downtown Art Walk exhibit and April 19th will be the HOWL’s final downtown Music Walk show.
The new HOWL Gallery/Tattoo location will be opening on or around May 1st, 2013, in the Miracle Plaza located at 4164 Cleveland Ave., directly across from the Edison Mall on the corner of Courtney and US-41/Cleveland Ave. Please visit the HOWL website at www.howlgallery.com for current news and information.
