Those words or somewhat memorable words by Ice-T the movie's star along with Christopher Lambert (Highlander) from the 1997 exploitation extravaganza "Mean Guns", action-thriller Written by Andrew Whitham and Directed by Albert Puyn, who has a great reputation making B-movie films like this one and others like The Sword And The Sorcerer, Cyborg (which was recently reassembled by Pyun in a definitive version), Dollman starring Tim Thomerson and Jackie Earle Haley, Postmortem starring Charlie Sheen (Yes!! that one when he called himself Charles) and Ticker starring Steven Segal, Dennis Hopper, Tom Sizemore and hottie Jaime Pressley. Pyun's style for this types of film are simple, no hold's barred action, suspense and way over the top music, fights and camera movement. All in all a fun movie would be instore and most of which have garnered a cult following over the years. the film features a group of assorted mob syndicate criminals which include hitmen, crooks, snitches and other assorted trash who are brought over the newly reconstructed prison by gangster Vincent Moon (Ice-T) to play a deadly game inside the prison walls and to whoever's left after six hours is over ten million dollars, if you're left standing in the end and I say "if". Mean Guns is another example of why you'd rather do independent films because you can get away with tons of stuff and also have fun in the process.
Along with this violent joyride is Tony Riparetti, Pyun's musical partner who without question wrote this score and is one of my all time favorites. It has a joyful, Latin filled vibe to it with a hip-hop beats to it as well. The music definitely fits the film perfectly and cheesy fun! Howlin' Wolf Records who is currently going to release Riparetti's unused and unreleased score to Cyborg The Director's Cut is also releasing this one as well much to my pleasant surprise. I got the word from my friend Wall Crumpler and this is real. There's no set release date yet but Riparetti is hard at work producing the album as I write this.
This is very exciting that a composer like Riparetti, will finally be getting his just due on CD and it's long overdue. Howilin' Wolf Records like I've said before is definitely an up and coming label and I know they'll be a successful one after all they have an owner that cares!
