Howard University Music Department Centennial Concert Sunday, Feb 26, 3 p.m.

Howard University will present the first of a series of concerts celebrating the centennial of the department of music.  On Sunday, February 26, a faculty gala concert will feature mezzo-soprano Kehembe V. Eichelberger,  pianist Raymond Jackson, trumpeter Fred Irby, III and the Saint George's String Quartet.  Music on the program will include masterworks from by the 19th century by Mendelssohn, Liszt, Chopin, Brahms, Saint-Saëns  and African-American composer Frederick Elliot Lewis.

Admission is free, however children under the age of five will not be permitted, due to professional recording of the program.  Cell phones and other electronic devices are also encouraged to be silenced before entering the concert.

The concert will take place at 3 p.m. in Howard's Andrew Rankin Chapel.  A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the music scholarship.

Upcoming in the series will be a lecture recital, by the renowned concert organist, Dr. Mickey Thomas Terry.
