Howard Stern tweets farewell to Roger Ebert

Howard Stern has been stingy with his Twitter posts of late, but Thursday's news that film critic Roger Ebert died brought the King of All Media out of social media hiding.

"Roger Ebert RIP. I never grew tired of his opinions...on everything. Great man, great guest and great sense of humor. I will miss him," tweeted Stern.

The King of All Media's On Demand cable channel Howard TV also tweeted out a picture of Ebert during an in studio Howard Stern Show appearance with the message:

"Thumbs way up for a true friend of the show. #RIPRogerEbert"

Ebert had been fighting cancer since his first diagnosis in 2002. In 2005, he had a portion of his jaw removed as part of a surgery to remove a cancerous growth.

Ebert first appeared on the show in the 90s with his then partner Gene Siskel, who died from complications from surgery aimed at removing a cancerous brain tumor.

The Howard Stern Show is on vacation next week, so fans will have to wait until the show returns live on April 15, 2013 to hear Stern's full eulogy.
