Howard Stern posted a MoveOn.org video to his Twitter feed Saturday, featuring Newark Mayor Cory Booker responding to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's proposal that same sex marriage be put to a popular vote in the state.
The video, call "Cory Booker Nails Marriage Equality in 5 Minutes," features Booker condemning Christie's recent statements that he would personally veto a gay marriage law unless it was approved by a majority of New Jersey voters.
"We should not be putting civil rights issues up to a popular vote to be subject to the sentiments, the passions of the day. No minority should have their rights subject to the passions and sentiments of the majority. This is a fundamental bedrock of what our nation stands for...This should not be a popular vote. This is something we should do now...To me, it's ridiculous and offensive that we're still having this debate."
In September 2011, Howard Stern's wife Beth Ostrosky Stern told the Good Day N.Y. audience that the King of All Media was a fan of Chris Christie and that the couple had been "mesmerized" a recent speech from the Governor.
Howard Stern has been a vocal supporter of gay rights and marriage equality for decades, so much so that he recently chastised GLAAD for not nominating him for an award.
