Howard Stern's recent comments about 'Precious' actress Gabourey Sidibe's obesity garnered unanimous support from a surprising source on Thursday night: the panel on HLN's The Joy Behar Show.

Howard Stern calls for 'Precious' actress public weigh-in

Despite Joy Behar introducing Howard Stern's recent comments about Gabourey Sidibe to her guests as "obnoxious," the panel of Michelle Collins, Cat Greenleaf and 'Poison' frontman Bret Michaels all found something of value in Howard Stern's cautionary statements about the 'Precious' star's health.

Howard Stern recently referred to Gabourey Sidibe as "the most enormous, fat black chick I've ever seen" and predicted she'd be hard pressed to find another acting role with her body type. After critics lashed out at Howard Stern for his comments, he replied by saying:

"Obesity in this country is out of control....What's really sad though is that there are people who say it's okay to be this heavy. 'You've got to love your body, you've got to embrace it.'" Stern then likened Gabourey Sidibe to absent Howard Stern Show co-host Artie Lange. "She's gonna kill herself."

Comedian Michelle Collins thought Howard Stern's analysis of Gabourey Sidibe's future in Hollywood was tactless, but accurate:

"While I don't condone the way he was speaking, I do think he kind of has a point about this phenomenon with her. I think it's hard enough for most black actresses to get work in Hollywood as it is. Like, Gabrielle Union has trouble, but all of the sudden people are writing these parts for Gabby [Sidibe] right now cause she's trendy-cause she's so different."

Reporter Cat Greenleaf agreed: "I think the health concern is a real one. Being fat is unhealthy. Being as fat as she is."

'Poison' frontman and soon to be Celebrity Apprentice contestant Bret Michaels mumbled through a similar statement of support:

"Here's the thing-with Howard Stern, you know, he, as you said, Howard Stern is what he is. He's going to say what he wants. The beauty of America is the freedom of opinion, right? However, you know, my thing about it-forget all of what Howard said for a second. Here's the thing-being a lifelong Type 1 diabetic, right? Four shots a day and all that. I feel that, forget about work for a minute. She obviously wants to get a hold of herself. Forget about the size. I'm not talking about the size. Get a hold of her health."

Howard Stern has repeatedly stated he is a fan of the film 'Precious,' but also recently called for a "public weigh-in" of the actress.

We should also be concerned with the health of anorexic-looking actresses. Malnutrition is equally unhealthy.

Why are people critizing fat black women who are being nominated for an Oscar? The Oscar category was for BEST ACTRESS & PERFORMANCE! (which means it's open to all types?) Its not a beauty pagent or Miss Bikini skinny competition..NOR IS IT JUST FOR the fake plastic types who can't act. Overweight people are part of ou...r society and are deserving of awards like anyone else!

Howard Stern is not in a postion to be talking about black people and the way they look when he wears a wig or a rug on his head and his wife looks like an overdone tranvistite....People ought not to be critizing others when they need to look in the mirror at themselves!

What Howard said is an observation, not an attack. She will get some roles for the next year or two, but will go away after. No, it's not fair...but her uniqueness can only pigeon-hole her into a certain type of role. I would bet that Gabourey's weight has more to do with genetics then more diet choices, but it's just as destructive as Lindsey Lohan blowing rails and sleeping around Hollywood. And, I doubt Howard would shy away from talking about that either...

both malnutrition and obesity are problems in our society. Neither one is healthy, but Howard Stern will point out that malnutrition is just as unhealthy as obesity. Sidibe is just the health problem that is currently in the news. Trust me he dogs on super skinny actress' that look sick too.
