Howard Stern revealed on Thursday morning's Howard Stern Show broadcast that he has received at least one offer to return to terrestrial radio when his contract with Sirius XM expires in January 2011.
A return to terrestrial radio for Howard Stern would mean that millions of Howard Stern Show fans who didn't make the jump to pay for Sirius satellite radio would now have access to the King of All Media once again.
Media analysts have repeatedly stated that Howard Stern has lost "cultural relevancy" since his move to satellite radio because he's reaching a smaller audience. Howard Stern recently countered critics with the argument that while his subscription base may be smaller than his free radio audience, those fans that followed him to satellite are listeners who tune in for every single broadcast, thereby offering an even more appealing audience for sponsors to market to.
Howard Stern isn't ruling anything out yet, but a return to terrestrial radio would mean stepping back into the censorship zone for the media icon after five years of free reign.
"I love being on these censorship free broadcasts," said Howard Stern on Thursday's broadcast. Howard Stern states that his agent plans to set up meetings soon to discuss his future at Sirius XM.

well, now that howard is all about censorship (i.e., nobody is allowed to talk about artie, gilbert got bleeped yesterday in the replays) he should be quite happy to go back to terrestrial radio.
what happened to our howard? when did he get so skittish and scared? why is it ok for him to bleep or censor people? back when pigvomit did it he'd lose his mind.
i think howard should just retire at the end of this contract. i don't think he's enjoying any of this anymore.
I'd love to hear him again. Not that I don't love reading your updates, too...
