Howard Stern Named Judge of `America’s Got Talent’

NEW YORK, N.Y.—“All Hail The King”—Popular radio personality, Howard Stern announced Thursday during his broadcast that he will replace Piers Morgan on NBC’s "America's Got Talent.”

Stern along with his super agent Don Buchwald signed the final contract on the air that will secure his judging spot on the NBC reality show.

“It’s a special day for me,” Stern said during his live radio broadcast. “I am now a judge.”

As part of the agreement, NBC will move the Los Angeles-based show to New York to accommodate Howard’s radio schedule.

Stern will travel around the country during the audition period while maintaining his early radio morning show on Sirius-XM.

The King of all media will join fellow talent judges, Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel and Nick Cannon in February as singers, magicians, dancers and comedians of all ages compete for the million-dollar prize.

The celebrated radio host, and author said he knows “what it takes to be a star.”

When asked what to expect when he takes over for Piers Morgan, who left the show to focus on his CNN talk show, “Piers Morgan Tonight,” Stern said he will offer “more serious judging,'” adding,” let’s go in there and really get some extraordinary talent.”

“What I add to the show is what they need, a great solid judge, I will add truth and represent the American people,” Stern said.

Stern would not comment on how much money he will earn, but said, “I didn’t do it for the money,” but hinted it’s over $100,000.

With the announcement, comes a bitter-sweet past with NBC, who fired Stern from WBNC radio in 1985 following a tempestuous relationship with the company.

30-years later NBC is counting on Stern’s enormous fan base to boost the show’s ratings and possibly generate millions for the network in ad revenue.
