Howard Stern played a compelling piece of tape on Wednesday from an on-air interview he conducted with David Carradine in 1993. As is typical of Howard Stern interviews, the King of All Media asked David Carradine about his personal sexual practices, including masturbation.
“You’re a pervert,” replied the Kung-Fu star to Howard Stern’s question. “I don’t do that. I haven’t done that in--probably--ten years.”
David Carradine was found dead in his hotel room in Bangkok last week under circumstances that suggested the actor accidentally suffocated during autoerotic asphyxiation. Howard Stern wondered if the clip from his 1993 interview gave any credence to claims from David Carradine’s family that the manner of his death was suspicious and inconsistent with Carradine‘s lifestyle. The New York Times has reported that David Carradine’s family has asked the F.B.I to investigate the circumstances of his death.
Howard Stern admitted that the tape of the David Carradine interview may have been nothing more than an example of a star’s reluctance to discuss his sexual practices on the air. The 1993 interview wasn’t the only time that someone from the Howard Stern Show put David Carradine on the spot regarding his bedroom practices. This past February, David Carradine was cornered by Howard Stern Show correspondent Gary Garver at the “Night of 100 Stars” in Beverly Hills. Garver asked Carradine if he had ever had a “reach around” or a “Dutch oven.” David Carradine claimed he didn’t know what either of those terms referred to.

Leave it to Stern to keep things classy. I hope the new book, "David Carradine: The Eye of My Tornado" is a bit more tasteful.
