Howard Stern revealed Wednesday that he quit drinking alcohol after learning he was developing liver problems last year.
Stern revealed his sober status during a discussion of the cast's holiday celebrations over the vacation. Co-host Robin Quivers noted that Stern wasn't drinking alcohol at the Howard Stern Show holiday party.
"Yeah," said Stern. "I don't drink anymore. I stopped...When my doctor told me about that liver thing, and I was only allowed to have one drink, it was like: 'Why bother?' He goes: 'You can have one drink a week.' And I went 'One drink a week?' So, I think now everybody thinks I'm in AA because, like, we're all having dinner together and I'm ordering a club soda with cranberry juice and I'm that a****** at the party that everyone goes: 'Oh, he's no fun!'"
In March 2011, Howard Stern revealed that his doctor told him to abstain from alcohol completely for three weeks because his liver showed signs of irritation. Stern said he had been drinking wine regularly before the test, but hasn't consumed alcohol in some time.
Last New Year's Eve, Stern and his wife Beth O proudly "drunk dialed" dozens of Twitter followers. This year, Stern did the dialing, but says no drinking was involved.
