Howard Stern says that he's still raking in listeners by the millions even though his show is only available to Sirius XM satellite radio subscribers.
Stern estimated his own listenership at "5 to 6 million" people a day during Tuesday's live Howard Stern Show broadcast, saying:
“I’m always amazed when publicists go: ‘Howard Stern’s on satellite. Blah blah blah. That’s not relevant. Meanwhile, we probably have conservatively 5-6 million people a day listening and maybe more. I’m being on the low side.”
Just how many listeners Stern has brought to Sirius XM radio is now the subject of suit brought by Stern's production company against the satellite radio magnate. Stern and his agent Don Buchwald are currently suing Sirius XM for at least $75 million in unpaid stock bonuses they claim they are owed for bringing subscribers to the company.

Sirius Satellite radio had 600,000 subscribers when Howard Stern signed on with them at the end of 2005. By 2010, Sirius had acquired XM radio, and the company celebrated their 20 millionth subscriber.
Stern had an estimated 20 million listeners of his own during his peak on terrestrial radio.
