Howard Stern gleefully told his radio audience Monday morning that he gets better celebrity treatment in his apartment building than his neighbor talk show host Regis Philbin.
Philbin mentioned during Friday morning's Live with Regis and Kelly broadcast that he had run into Howard Stern at an exclusive screening of Matt Damon's new film 'The Green Zone' at the Cinema Society on Thursday night. Howard Stern gave details on the Regis Philbin run-in to his Howard Stern Show audience Monday morning and bragged that Philbin didn't have the same clout as he did, especially among the staff of their luxury Manhattan apartment building
Howard Stern said that Regis Philbin and his wife Joy arrived at the Cinema Society 'The Green Zone' screening disoriented and wet after tramping through the rain to get to the screening and then wandering around the theater unable to find their seats until they were directed to sit next to Howard Stern and his wife Beth Ostrosky.
Howard Stern said that he teased Philbin for presuming that he and his wife Joy had been placed in the "sh---y" seats near the front of the theater. Stern also asked Philbin why he hadn't just taken the underground pathway between their building and the theather to avoid inclement weather.
"It drove him crazy that I knew how to go under the building," said Howard Stern Monday. "It was driving him nuts. He was like I can't believe you knew how to do this. 'How come Howard gets this treatment and I don't?' It made me feel really good that I got better treatment than Regis. I don't know why, but that seems to be important to me."
Robin Quivers suggested: "Maybe you are obsessed".
Howard Stern also joked that he and his wife Beth were going to put out a duet album to compete with Regis and Joy Philbin's recent release: 'Just You. Just Me.'
