Howard Stern blames Sarah Palin crosshairs map: 'they should lock her up'

Howard Stern says Sarah Palin's crosshairs map, which featured a gun sight focused over Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' district, should land the former governor in jail.

Sarah Palin's website had a photo of target, crosshairs over Gabrielle Giffords

Giffords, a House Democrat from Arizona, was shot with 19 others at a constituent meet and greet in Tucson, Arizona Saturday morning.  Since March 2010, Sarah Palin's website has featured a map of the U.S. with 20 gun scopes to represent 20 House Democrats who voted in favor of Obama's health care bill--including Giffords.

Howard Stern fumed over the controversy Monday morning, calling Palin "sickening".

"Up on Sarah Palin’s website is a big scope with a gun crosshairs and Gabrielle’s name and ‘go to Arizona and go find her in your crosshairs’ Now come on, I mean, what are we talking about here? This woman wants to be President of the United States? If she becomes President of the United States we’re f---ed. She’s a f---ing loon."

"She’s got a map with people’s names and gun sights," added Stern later. "If I had that they’d arrest me."

The map was removed from Palin's website a few hours after Saturday morning's shooting, but another copy remains posted on her Facebook page.

"She’s a wacko and she’s got a gun sight with this woman’s name on it," said Stern. "They should lock her up."

Palin's PR team recently stated that the crosshairs on Palin's map were meant to represent a surveryor's sight.

"Why would you put a surveyor’s sight? What, are they advocating putting a parking lot?" asked Stern sarcastically. "She is such a liar. They should lock her up for that. I mean, are you f---ing kidding me? Give me a break"

Palin received widespread criticism after posting the map from those who felt it encouraged violence. Representative Giffords spoke about being listed on Palin's targeted website in an eerily prophetic interview with MSNBC last year, during which she said: "When people do that, they've got to realize that there's consequences to that action.".

Giffords remains in critical condition. Six people were killed in Saturday's bloodbath including a federal judge, a church pastor and a 9-year-old girl.

Do you really think this is comparable? I feel like the folks in Tucson would have had a better chance of survival if they'd been shot with archery arrows from 8th grade gym class as your map would imply,...

  • Mike m 1 year ago

Of course it isn't comparable, first of all there is no names targeted. Second there isn't GUN SIGHTs.

Saying that placing targets on pictures is tantamount to calling for death is a bit sad and it's very partisan motivated.

It's an act of free speech to post a photo targeting someone for political action. It's been done before and will be done again. No one had a mental break down when it was originally posted because no one would have been able to reasonably claim then that it could mean anything other than targeting for political action (i.e. trying to get them voted out of office), which is clearly an act of political speech.

Leave it to a newspaper writer to condemn only free speech they disagree with.

This is nothing more than utterly terrifying political posturing, using a terrible event to garner political attention (which makes it little better than what those Westboro Baptist Church morons do.)

OK, so the blame for a suicide bomber in Iraq or Afghanistan is the bomber himself, NOT alQaida or the mullahs who preach glory in martyrdom, Right? I get it now.

1-10 page, slimy sarah fb page; her admins have actually left up a post that says (paraprasing here) it's probably best that 9-year-old Christina is dead, because she probabaly would have grown up to be a leftie Hitler anyway. This was as of last night.

We all know that there are unstable and potentially dangerous people among us. To repeatedly appeal to their basest instincts is to invite and welcome their predictable violence.

Giffords father Spencer Giffords, 75, wept when asked if his 40-year-old daughter had any enemies. "Yes," he told The Post. "The whole tea party."
-an anti-Giffords event held in June with the billing: "Get on TARGET for Victory in November. Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office. SHOOT a fully AUTOMATIC M16 with Jesse Kelly."

How would you like it if ANYONE put crosshairs on you or your family? Blood on your hands palin.

Her map with the bullseyes (in her words) is the same as crying FIRE in a crowded theater! She got exactly what she was hoping for. And now maybe Sharon Engle and her 2 amendment idea will be next or was it just done!! And Michelle Bachman and her ARMED and DANGEROUS, enough for her? These loony-toones should be in jail along with Glenn Beck saying the President is a racist!!! What a bunch of idiots!!!!

I'm sure Howard has Palin in his crosshairs. I'd bet he'd like to have her on his show baring it all. She's got some nice rack(et).

The followers of Beck and Palin are shoeless and toothless folk who live in the wild or in rual areas, like places on her tv show. They are uneducated idiots who never had health insurance and don't care if they ever do.

If it were anyone else, they would be arrested and charged with accessory, inciting violence, etc. The fact that she gets no blame for the lives lost is very sick. she only apologizes sweetly, sends condolences and so many continue to support her. It is rather a rather alarming predictor that this behavior of her could land us in a major war if she were elected. Her politics at home would be no different for international politics.
