Howard Stern and Bill Murray set to help Letterman celebrate 30th anniversary

This Wednesday, February 1rst, will be the 30th anniversary of David Letterman as a late night talk show host.  To help him celebrate, Dave will have on a few of his favorite guests.  On Wednesday's telecast, Howard Stern will be interviewed by Letterman for the 41rst time.  No doubt Howard will try to turn the table and interview Dave, like he often does.

On Tuesday night, Dave will be welcoming Bill Murray as his guest.  Murray appeared on the very first episode of "Late Night with David Letterman" in 1982.  On that appearance, Murray sang and danced to Olivia Newton-John's song, "Physical".  Bill was also Letterman's first guest when he switched to CBS with "Late Show with David Letterman" on August 30, 1993.  The comedy legend always does a bit on Dave's show, not settling for just an ordinary interview.

David Letterman is about to surpass the record held by his mentor, Johnny Carson, as the longest-running late night talk show host.  Carson retired from "The Tonight Show" after thirty years as host.  Dave is currently in negotiations to possibly add another two years to his contract with CBS.

Once his anniversary comes on Wednesday, a Dave will have interviewed over 17,900 guests in his 30 years.  Other guests this week include Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, and Jennifer Lopez.  Paul Shaffer has remained Dave's sidekick/bandleader for his whole run.  Happy 30th Anniversary Dave and Paul!
