Fred Norris has been a part of The Howard Stern Show since meeting Stern at WCCC-FM in Hartford, Connecticut in 1979. Fred Norris acts as a writer and on-air performer for The Howard Stern Show, currently broadcast on Sirius satellite radio.
Over his thirty years of work with The Howard Stern Show, Fred Norris has become the hardest working sound designer in radio history. While Fred plays many roles on the show, he is most well-known for providing wacky, but relevant sound effects through The Howard Stern Show’s four-hour weekday morning radio broadcast. Fred Norris is also an accomplished vocal impressionist. Listeners that are new to The Howard Stern Show may not realize that Fred Norris is the man behind most of the impressions heard throughout the broadcast.
Fred Norris is an avid trivia buff who states that he grew up reading encyclopedias cover to cover. Fred’s wide variety of knowledge has prompted The Howard Stern Show to build an on-air game show around him called “Win Fred’s Money” which pits him against listeners willing to offer up their girlfriends nudity for the chance to win $5,000-$10,000 against the trivia savant.
Fred Norris not only has Howard Stern to thank for his stellar professional career, but for his personal happiness as well. Fred married a woman named Alison Ferman that he met on air at The Howard Stern Show during a Dating-Game-style segment called “Dial-A-Date.”
In his off-air time, Fred Norris is the lead guitarist and vocalist for the classic rock band King Norris. See King Norris perform here:
