Howard Community College Rider School

Wow, Cutting edge instruction and forward thinking about motorcycle riding and safety, in our own back yard.
The Rider School at HCC,  http://coned.howardcc.edu/motorcycle_safety/    is offering the most progressive
motorcycle riding program in the region and is only one of a few programs in the country with classes covering
beginner skills and licensing to advanced courses for the enthusiast who wants to take it to the next level.
Founder and Director, Jim Schmidt, is bringing more than a wide ranging class schedule to the table. His idea was
to create a program that continues it's own learning process and implements what they discover into the curriculum.
HCC formed a think tank with some of the best people in the industry on riding and safety. www.roadracingworld.com
They have and will continue to develop recommendations for states to implement in their own programs around the country.
Nation wide, safety administrators and insurance companies are taking notice. This is the type of program that has
been needed in the motorcycle community for a long time. The vulnerability a motorcyclist has on the roadway is
unlike that of other vehicles. The learning process should be a more comprehensive one of understanding and
preparedness for the activity your getting involved in. The Rider School at HCC is taking that idea and making it
a reality. The personnel and program are like no other. As Jim Schmidt told me, no matter what your experience or riding
level, you will come away with a better understanding of safety and skill.

Live to ride, ride to live.
