HowAboutWe for couples comes to L.A. in time for Valentine's Day

HowAboutWe offers new couples service for L.A.

Sweating about what to plan for Valentine's Day? Don't worry guys, online dating site HowAboutWe's got your back. Just in time for the romantic holiday, the company is expanding its new couples dating service to residents of Los Angeles.

HowAboutWe began as an online dating site for singles, focusing on the offline dating experience rather than profile matching like most dating sites. Members can post a date idea on the site and see who responds, getting to the meet-up part more quickly.

The new service takes that same idea and applies it to couples who are looking for a fun and unique night out. The company describes HowAboutWe for Couples as "a digital concierge service for people in relationships" by offering curated dates on demand. HowAboutWe plans the dates in advance and posts descriptions for members to search and book according to their preferences. (The dates are particular to each city's offerings.) The service currently operates in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago as well as L.A.

For Angeleno residents, the dates range from pure entertainment - like taking a DJ class where you can learn how to spin, mix and scratch, or a going on a scavenger hunt for naked art at the Getty Museum - to romantic relaxation with an at-home massage lesson, or a foodie experience like a custom donut-making class.

“We created HowAboutWe for Couples to help make date night happen for people in relationships everywhere,” said HowAboutWe co-founder and co-CEO Brian Schechter, “And since Los Angeles boasts some of the coolest, most vibrant dates in the country, we felt it made complete sense to mark our one year anniversary by launching in this iconic city.”

HowAboutWe charges $18 per month for the new concierge service, which includes one free date per month. You pay in advance for the specific activity, typically at a discounted rate. Since its launch in New York City in January 2013, the service has offered over 1,100 date experiences to more than half a million users.

Happy Valentine's Day!
