There is something you can do to help the 15-year-old victim of the gang rape in Richmond, California, over the weekend.

The girl's school, Richmond High, is accepting cards and donations for her and her family.

Checks should be made out to the Richmond High Student Fund.

The checks and cards should be sent directly to the school at 1250 23rd St., Richmond, CA 94804-1011.

Also Mothers tell your daughters what happens when you hang out drinking with a group of guys in a dark secluded area. Duh, whats up DOC?

Noah you are a real Fool!

That school should be shut down. Don't send that school a dime. Send money to the girl's family for lawyers. The school officials, cops on duty, school district should be sued. The onlookers should be expelled. A horrible outrageous crime!

  • Allison 1 year ago

That's actually not the way it works; the victim of a crime doesn't hire a lawyer. The state prosecutes on the victim's behalf. That said, I would have nothing against sending money to the girl's family for other things she might need such as therapy or money towards her college education. She deserves so much better in life. And Noah's statement was ridiculous. Yes, a girl needs to be careful and look out for herself. But the focus should be on the horrible things those boys did. Why didn't their parents teach them to respect women and that any kind of violence against women is not ok? No matter what the victim did, they have no right to force her into a sexual act.

  • jojo 2 years ago

What a ridiculous statement to blame the victim of this crime, Noah. Hanging out with "guys" in a dark area or otherwise does not give someone the right to exhibit this type of brutality! These were kids she knew and went to school with for goodness sakes. There is no excuse and it doesn't put the victim at fault. What is wrong with some peoples' thinking?! I pray that this child is able to recover emotionally from this. I also pray that the perpetrators will be brought to justice and that the children that "watched" this crime will learn empathy and the difference between right and wrong.

Noah, you are a complete idiot. let's say this again: Women, reclaim the streets. we have the right to go wherever we want as citizens with full rights without anyone assaulting us.

Next time I see a guy drunk I will take a good knive and cut his balls and all. His father should have told him to be more careful, following Noah's advise.

  • kcboston 2 years ago

I agree with Lady guerrila girl. These guys should be castrated. I will do it myself if they dare cross my path. Hopefully once they are in jail they will endure the same trauma they inflicted upon this young girl. Men need to learn how to control themselves and if they can't they should be castrated.

This is very upsetting. Possibly 10 suspects, over 2hours & what is most upsetting, 24 people watched & did nothing to stop it!!! Send them to prison, hopefully the same is done to them!! Then hang them from their dicks!!!! The ones that watched, you bet, charge them for aiding!!!

I do not live in this community but I do have somehting to say about how the police, press, and prosecutors have handled it so far.
What I am seeing is a bunch of very angry and terrified people responding to some very incomplete information. Should people be angry and terrified if something like this happens in thier community? Absolutely! However, as I look at the available details of the case I can only observe a few spotty statements from the alleged perpitrators, the exact number of which is not known, and the testimony of someone-the alleged victim- who was very drunk at the time.
There are "suggestions" that there was a sizable croud there. Ok, how many? Are we just going to assume that it was 20? Do we realy know for sure how long this incident lasted? Are we going to lock up everyone in the latino community untill we get an answer? Or, perhaps the answer sought after by an hesterical lynch mob? Before more lives are wrecked lets take a step back I would suggest.

  • BlackSun 2 years ago

Noah-how DARE you blame the victim for what happened! Blame security, blame the school, blame the district, blame the city but DON'T blame that girl for what happened to her. Anyone could have walked into that situation and had the same thing happen to them, no matter how aware or educated you are.
Those poor examples of humans should rot behind bars for the rest of their lives for what they did to her. They STOLE something away from her that she will NEVER get back. She was HORRIFICALLY TORTURED for 2 ½ hours while they pleased themselves & used her as an object that they could take out their aggressions upon… a physical pleasure that women can’t take advantage of men and do. I’m with kcboston & Lady guerrila girl I hope those guys get what’s coming to them from the men and women alike. She was defenseless young girl and I pray that those who did this to her and the witnesses who knew what was going on and failed to do anything are punished to the fullest.

Dear victim blamers: A victim is not responsible for his or her own rape. The RAPIST is responsible for the rape. Please try to understand this. Thank you.

  • SHANNON 2 years ago

NOAH IT CAN ALSO HAPPEN TO BOYS THAT DRINK WITH THEIR FRIENDS IN DARK SECLUDED AREAS SO YOU HAD BETTER WATCH OUT. NO ONE IS SAFE FROM THIS KIND OF THING SO YOU HAD BETTER THANK THE GOOD LORD THAT YOU HAVE NEVER HAD IT HAPPEN TO YOU AND SHOW SOME COMPASSION FOR THE YOUNG GIRL. FATHERS TELL THEIR STUPID ASS BOYS TO CONTROL THEMSELVES AND ACT LIKE THEY HAVE SOME SENSE.

  • squidly 2 years ago

Noah is an idiot. I agree, I would not send the school $$, send it straight to the family. The school said "student fund". Who knows who is getting the $$. My heart breaks for this girl and her family. NO ONE asks or deserves it. I hope those boys pay dearly and one day are on the receiving end 10 times worse.

  • squidly 2 years ago

Rohara, why bring up the latino community only? What does this have to do with it? I have not read anywhere where all latins are being blamed. Sick of the race card. This was a horrendous crime no matter which race did it.

  • Tanya 2 years ago

Let me first start off by saying there is NO EXCUSE for RAPE. No man has the right to force him self on any woman, or a child. Noah you make a great point! When the day comes for God to bless me with a child and it happens to be a girl I will definitely tell her it's not appropriate to be drinking at the age of 15, but I will also make sure she understands that no matter what she does it's NOT ok for a man to rape her. It scares me that there are people out there with your mentality. I'm not sure if your have children or not but I wonder if that would be your advise to your daughter after she was ganged raped? I will pray for you and people like you.

  • Tanya 2 years ago

@rohara you stated "However, as I look at the available details of the case I can only observe a few spotty statements from the alleged perpetrators, the exact number of which is not known, and the testimony of someone-the alleged victim- who was very drunk at the time."
Again what does this young lady being drunk have to do with her being raped, and so far no one has reported that she was "drunk" there reporting that she had been drinking, big difference.
you also stated "There are "suggestions" that there was a sizable crowd there. Ok, how many?" what do you mean ok? how many? 1 is too many! What has this world come to that there are people out there more concerned about the perp. then the victim?
you also stated "Do we really know for sure how long this incident lasted?" It's been proven that this young girl was raped if it lasted 1 min. 1 hr, 2 hrs it wouldn't and shouldn't matter, the point is she was raped!

  • Cleo 2 years ago

It´s insane the world we live nowadays.
The only thing I can do from Brazil for express my sorrow, is pray the Lord to take care of this poor girl, erasing that terrible night from her young mind.
Meanwhile, as a mother, teaching our children that unfortunately not everyone around is trustfull and good. And if they find theirselvs up to go out for parties, they have to pay attention and be carefull in every precious second of their lives.

  • Sara 2 years ago

Dear victim blamers: A victim is not responsible for his or her own rape. The RAPIST is responsible for the rape. Please try to understand this. Thank you.

  • rohara 2 years ago

    squidly,
I brought up the Latino thing because another poster brought up imigration as a root cause and I didn't think that was fair. Also, the police are talking dragnet style. That never makes for good police work and is again part of the lynch mob mentality, not necisarlily a race card mentality. Please try to tell the difference.

  • rohara 2 years ago

    Tanya,
Being drunk has absolutly nothing to do with her being drunk. It DOES have something with her being a witness as all alleged victims are the primary witnes. Cognition and reccolection are impared when you are inebriated. Now before you go and jump down my throat and say "how could someone forget something like that!" I would like to suggest that if there was a sober witness there that maybe we should take their account as well.
One person is too many and one minute is too many. I am not disagreeing with that. However, do you not see the potential in this situation to lock people up who may not have even been there? This whole thing has the potential to destroy the lives of innocent people. Don't you see that?
I am not blaming the victim in this incident. I am hoping that we do not have any victims of a miscarage of justice. Please not the difference.

  • rohara 2 years ago

    correction tanya
i ment to say that being drunk has nothing to do with her being a victim

  • MIKE 2 years ago

    rohara,

Are you kidding. Are you really saying she mignt not trully be a victim? THEY HAD TO AIRLIFT THE GIRL TO THE HOSPITAL!!! Her beating was that bad... Stop defending the perps... Lets get on with justice...

And for those that want to blame people... How about we blame the parents... What kind of MORALS have they taught these kids? for the people that were involved that are under 18 I say the parents should be charged as well... Hold a few parent accountable for what their kids do and I bet parents start teaching their kids a little more respect for people, the law, and whats right and wrong...

  • rohara 2 years ago

    Mike,
I did not say she is not a victim. I said that accounts may vary as to how many alleged criminals were at the scene, and what they were doing, where they were doing it, and with whom. PLEASE GET THIS THROUGH YOU HEAD!
There is a potential here for people getting locked up even if they had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! The testimony of others should be taken into account BEFORE we start throwing "dosens" of peole in jail.

  • MIKE 2 years ago

rohara: and the testimony of someone-the alleged victim- who was very drunk at the time. .....rohara: It DOES have something with her being a witness as all alleged victims are the primary witnes. NOW GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD! Alleged: Represented as existing or as being as described but not so proved; supposed.
Sure sounds as if you are implying that her being drunk might have her remembering things diffrently then they actually happened... and that it was an "alleged" rape... Now as far as locking up someone that didnt have anything to do with it... Well with the way the judicial system works testimony alone doesnt mean conviction... But I would say if she remembers someone being there they deserve jail... EVEN IF THEY DIDNT "DO" something... cause thats the problem... there were lots of people there that didnt "DO" anything...

  • MIKE 2 years ago

ALLEDED must be rohara's special word of the day or something...

@ rohara You stated "Being drunk has absolutely nothing to do with her being a victim. It DOES have something with her being a witness as all alleged victims are the primary witness. Cognition and recollection are impaired when you are inebriated. Now before you go and jump down my throat and say "how could someone forget something like that!" I would like to suggest that if there was a sober witness there that maybe we should take their account as well. Okay this is a blog and EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion, with that being said I not trying to "jump" down your throat just having a discussion! Let me tell you why I would be more perceptive to what the victim told me over anyone who was there...not ONE person called the police not ONE person attempted to help this young lady so why would I believe anything they had to say about the incident? Your 100% right when under the influence of drugs or alcohol your recollection of an incident can be sketchy,

  • Tanya 2 years ago

but what else do the police have to go by? The people there who watched and did nothing? Do you honestly believe that they would all of a sudden do the right thing and bring the men who committed such a heinouss crime to justice? I don't.

  • Vallejo Resident 2 years ago

As horrific as this is, we can not rush to judgment. All the facts must be gathered, analysed, etc. before we know for sure what happened that night and who is to blame. What we know today is a young woman, through no fault of her own, has been brutalized, traumatized, etc. We need to pray for her and support her in any way we can. We also need to pray that justice will be done and work toward ensuring that this never happens again - everybody involved in this whether the victim or the perpetrator are our children and WE are responsible.

All I can say is that if they stood by and watched they are just as guilty as if they were involved. What happend to the upbringing of our children. The parents are dropping the ball and not teaching their children morrals anymore. If this had happened in the south I can promise you there would be action taken.

This is just another example of the moral decline of our society. Im not talking about God and morals here just plan old right and wrong. All involved should be punished and those that did nothing and watched should be punished as well. I have never been a supporter of the "TV and media influence" but clearly if you surf any sort of porn sites you will come accross plenty of rape/gang bang/party sex type sites that clearly have an influence on what young men may think is acceptable/ok behavior. I have two young daughters and I now notice all sorts of things I had never given much thought to in the past in regards to whats on TV and media etc. This is in no way an excuse just an observation. I think we as a society need to reevaluate whats important and what we are teaching our children and if that doesnt work....well my name should sum that up.

Statistics show that Richmond is the third most dangerous city in California with rape being one of the highest levels in the country. However, unemployment is not as big a problem as in most cities due to the high level of industrial employers in the area. Race is also not a factor, b/c there are many areas where minorities make up a much greater percentage of the population. So why the high crime rate and the very high rape rate?

  • realitychild 2 years ago

I cannot believe rohara & Noah. Are you kidding me? It's a shame that people no longer take responsibility for their actions. Any woman should be able to walk down the street naked without fearing being attacked. Members of our species should learn to control their urges, end of story. rohara you stated "someone-the alleged victim- who was very drunk at the time." Their was physial evidence. I don't care what race/nationality those people are, they should all go to prison. The police are gathering info. & a jury will decide if they're guilty or not. I pray for the girl & her family. As a survivor, I know it can be a very long process to regain any resemblance to one's former self.

  • Tanya 2 years ago

@Southern Man, you stated "The parents are dropping the ball and not teaching their children morals anymore." please don't take offense to what I'm about to say....But I get so frustrated when I hear people say things like that. At the age of 2 children know right from wrong. I don't believe up bringing, absent father's, lack of parenting, etc. are reasons things like this happen. Bottom line rather your parents are very active in your life or not you know right from wrong, point being one of the alleged suspects ran when the police approached them, why is that? Because he knew what he had done was WRONG!!!!

You know what's sad? there was another gang rape earlier THIS year and was called as a hate crime because they raped a lesbian. Seriously Richmond, California is a no good place to live if you are a woman or girl.

  • Southern Man 2 years ago

Tanya you on the mark. you are correct in that the children know right from wrong at an early age. But what is the punishment for what they do wrong. Dr. Spock told us that punishing our children was bad!!! and any one who bought in to that is paying for it. Our culter has become removed from the responsibility of raising their shildren in the way that we would all like to be treated. There is no way the alleged crime can go unpunished. Men today look at woman like they are a piece of meat and that is wrong. I have two daughters and can not imagin the pain that that little girlis going through. This outrages me.

  • Natalie 2 years ago

THIS IS NOT A RICHMOND, CA ONLY CRIME. It happens in small town USA! It isn't a time to point fingers and accuse the victim's families, but rather support them b/c they are outraged. The families are furious that this is happening. It isn't just happening in big cities, or rough neighborhoods, it's happening everywhere. She said this, he said that...Bottom line is another innocent girl was raped by someone, and even worse, a group of people while other people watched and did nothing. There are life long affects of such a traumatic experience. And the feeling of betrayal she is experiencing since no one ripped these people off of her in her defense. Teenagers are not being taught that taking advantage of a girl and taking advantage of an intoxicated girl are one in the same. This goes for teenagers, college students, and adults. It is abuse and all abuse should have lifelong punishment to equally balance the lifelong affects of the victim. People are disgusting. Where's your heart Mike?

  • Ed 2 years ago

Everyone who was involved in this incedent including those who were present and did not call 911 should be charged as an adult and spend plenty of time in prison. (my opinion) Hopefully, prison inmates will teach them a lot about being raped. I have NO sympathy for rapists or those who witness it.

  • Natalie 2 years ago

I agree 'realitychild'. This isn't over after justice is served. You have people like 'Mike' and 'rohara' who are arguing over spelling and the word alleged. Facts will surface, and even those who did "wrong" and don't get punished, the ones who had the opportunity to jump in and fight for this girl will have to live with the thought of 'i could have helped her'. alleged or not, this girl was taken advantage of regardless of facts. women need to find a way to do more to protect themselves. lesbian, black, white, Hispanic...it does not matter. wrong is wrong and being a innocent witness isn't so innocent when you could have done something rather than nothing.
